Smart Bookmark (“the extension”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Bookmark handles user data when you use the Chrome browser extension.

1. Information We Collect

Smart Bookmark does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or browsing history for tracking purposes.

The extension may access the following data only when you explicitly use its features:

  • Website URLs and page titles that you choose to save as bookmarks

  • User-created bookmark categories or notes

  • Extension preferences and settings

All data is related solely to the bookmarking functionality.

2. How Information Is Used

The collected information is used only to:

  • Save and organize bookmarks

  • Display saved bookmarks to the user

  • Maintain user preferences across browser sessions

The extension does not use data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or tracking.

3. Data Storage

  • All bookmark data and preferences are stored locally using Chrome’s storage API.

  • Data remains on the user’s device unless the user chooses to remove it.

  • Smart Bookmark does not upload data to external servers.

Smart Bookmark does not:

  • Use data for marketing or advertising purposes

No third-party analytics or tracking tools are used.

5. Permissions Explanation

Smart Bookmark requests only the minimum permissions required to function:

  • activeTab / tabs – To access the current page when the user saves a bookmark

  • storage – To store bookmarks and user preferences

  • contextMenus – To allow bookmarking via right-click

  • scripting – To extract page information when initiated by the user

All permissions are used only during direct user interaction.

6. User Control & Data Removal

Users have full control over their data:

  • Bookmarks can be deleted at any time

  • Extension data can be cleared via Chrome settings

  • Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data

7. Children’s Privacy

Smart Bookmark does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. The extension is intended for general productivity use.

8. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective Date” above.
